With support from Trees for Cities, we are able to fund a new 200-tree orchard at our site in Hemsby.
"Trees for Cities is the only UK charity working at a national and international scale to improve lives by planting trees in cities. We get stuck in with local communities to cultivate lasting change in their neighbourhoods - whether it's revitalising forgotten spaces, creating healthier environments or getting people excited about growing, foraging and eating healthy food"
The East of England has a heritage of around 270 traditional varieties of apple, pear, plum and cherry, many of which are now endangered. The orchard will be designed to celebrate this rich heritage and promote biodiversity by planting a range of local fruit varieties, such as Five Crown Pippin, Norfolk Beefing and Dr Harvey.
The orchard will be a community venture, planted and maintained by local people. If you are interested in getting involved, please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for the latest information about volunteering opportunities.
