GYPT featured as example of best practice in Historic England report

Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust has been featured in Historic England's latest edition of the annual Heritage and Society report, which examines the role heritage plays in society.

Heritage and Society 2020 presents evidence about the value of heritage to society, individuals and community groups across England. It demonstrates the ways in which heritage supports social cohesion, enhances wellbeing and quality of life, improves the way places are perceived and strengthens social networks. This year, the report also includes an analysis of how the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted our access to and engagement with heritage.

The work of GYPT has been used as a case study for how heritage can act as a driver for inclusive growth opportunities. The report highlights how training and engagement are fundamental to the success of our work, using the Cemeteries Project as an example of best practice for community engagement, training and skills development and international collaboration.
